There's already been a lot of speculation about a new franchise starting up, or moving to Las Vegas. While I live in NJ, Las Vegas is the perfect spot for a major league team. There is a booming population there and they would have plenty of filled seats from hotels buying packages of seats and giving them to their high rollers. From a business standpoint, it is the best possible option.

I like the Mexico City idea - it's a large enough city to support an MLB team, and would show some legitimate outreach outside the English-speaking parts of North America.

If we're sticking to the USA, I think Las Vegas would be the best option. It's growing and it has a huge number of tourists.

Raleigh, NC

They've never had an MLB or even a minor league team in town (and there's never been an MLB team in the state). Raleigh city limits encompasses 300,000 people while the greater metropolitan area houses more than a million people. The weather is pretty decent and Raleigh would have the money to construct a stadium if it felt so inclined as one of the fastest growing cities in the US.

Tough question. Most of the major cities have teams it seems. I can't think of any one that stands out but here are a few with major league teams in other sports that deserve consideration.

Buffalo
Nashville
Memphis
Portland, OR
New Orleans
Jacksonville
Charlotte
Indianapolis

I think there are arguments for and against all of those cities having teams. Baseball is so diluted already though. They need to get rid of some teams, not add more. The first to go should be Tampa Bay.

My suggestions would be:

Las Vegas, Nevada
Portland, Oregon
Charlotte, North Carolina
Hershey, Pennsylvania
Newark, New Jersey
San Antonio, Texas
Buffalo, New York (but only for an NL team)

I would definately not move the Marlins, but the Devil Rays are a team that should most certainly be relocated.

The Oakland Athletics should be moved to some state that doesnt have a team (like Montana or something). California has like 5 teams and Oakland is too close to other big cities and teams.

No more expansion.
Move a franchise to Las Vegas but build a dome there as its hotter than hell there in the summer. The locals would support the team. Vegas is a very sports minded city.

MLB should move the Devil Rays out of Tampa Bay and either to Vegas (a stadium with a dome of course) or somewhere in the Carolinas.
