i've been told in computer shop that laptop can be WiFi or wireless LAN enabled which basically means same thing, that WiFi laptop doesnt need any wireless adaptors,cards etc.But wireless LAN laptop needs adaptor,cards etc. ?????

WiFi is a media of transmission. LAN is a theoretical circuit which can combine wired and WiFi transmission methods.

Okay, no offense meant whatsoever, but you don't seem too computer-savvy. Let me explain these two things for you in greater detail (because you might not know what a local area network is).
WiFi:
It is what connects your PC to the World Wide Web (unless you have dial-up). Basically, your computer talks to "hotspots" that are connected directly into the WWW. Therefore, you can access the internet and check your email and stuff.
LAN:
LAN stands for Local Area Network. You can think of this has two computers sitting right next to each other, hooked up by a corde. This corde doesn't go to the internet, it just connects those two computers together.

WiFi is wireless internet connectivity
but LAN is (Local Area Network) network of computers available in the local area through wires

LAN is local area network...either connected by ethernet or wireless.
WIFI is access to internet being broadcast wirelessly, no cables required.
