Would you rather have a white friend who uses phrases like "I see a person, not color" and "....treated equally" and "...."on the inside..." and all the other stuff that's been pounded into their little head since they were five....or a white friend who realizes you're black and uses all the ignorant words in private with their family that'd probably get them shot in public...BUT are actually your friend...and not some drone?

Why cant the person just be a friend why does color have to be and issue treat me the same as you would any other race. They dont have to say what they see in the inside or say offensive things. Just except that we are different races it doesnt have to be and issue just act normal hang out go to the movies and mall race shouldnt be and issue. As a child my parents had friends from every race and they also gave me dolls from around the world I didnt just play with black dolls but I had white dolls russian dolls etc, the purpose was so that I accept all racist and know that it is not just a black and white world. America is really caught up with color. When I travel around the world they are friendly and outgoing and I never felt like the black girl. But in America white people are scared to say the word black afraid to offend and believe they are not racist when to me it is if you assume that black people are always going to be offended from what you say. Just treat us like human beings.

NEITHER. I don't need a friend who is constantly making note of the fact that I'm black. DAMN I KNOW that I'm black. ITS NOT A BIG DEAL. And there is know way that the other option is really my friend if they find it acceptable to use those terms at all They are derogatory and are used to make people fell superior over others. I need a friend who is my friend not because he/she want to brag about or constantly let Society no they are not racist or need a pat on the back. BUT i also don't need a friend who finds it acceptable to use words that i would find hurtful or derogatory towards mean in private because what you say in private is what you mean in public.

Honestly, I could do without both. How about a friend that realizes I am black but does not make a big deal of it in public or in private with their family.

Neither one. We are human and it's almost impossible for us to ignore color in every single situation. It'd be nice not to, but we do. We are all raised to believe certain things about different races. So until parent teach their children, from the beginning, that all of us are equal, our skin color will continue to divide us. And as long as the media portrays blacks so negatively, the cycle will continue.

I'd rather not have either person as a friend but if I HAD to choose I'd pick the first as opposed to the latter. How could someone that degrades my race and ethnicity behind my back even be considered a friend in the first place?

i get more annoyed with people who are super uptight with being correct and using "acceptable language" than those who are real.
