I would like to reply your query in the following lines:

1. It may take somewhere from 16 to 20 hours to travel from NY to Dhaka, depending on the route and carrier you are planning to take.

2. You would find food suiting western-taste in almost all the 4 and 5-star hotels. In 3-star hotels also they cater for western-foods. If you have the Hotel booking done online, you may find further details. Just in case you want help, please send me e-mail I will try my level best to help you as our foreign business Principals are lodged as per their budget and choice.

3. Things to see are mostly similar to what you may find in any developing country in South Asia like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka such as Museum, Parks, Zoos, Sea beaches, Safari-type forest/mangrove, rivers, canals, mountains, valleys, mostly paddy fields and greenery in most of the countryside.

4. Please be informed that at this time starting from 27th October 2006 till say 27th January 2007 there will be a lot of political disturbances those you saw in Nepal, India, Pakistan and even in Mexico recently where political parties are cutting their nose to spit their opponents!

5. If your visit is not very urgent in nature then you may come in February 2007 when all the political dusts would be settled for the next 5-years (next poll). In any case, have a nice journey and do not worry much. We are poor but considered as one of the most hospitable people among the neighborhood.

I am appending below Fact File on Bangladesh for your information:

Bangladesh is in Southern Asia, bordering the Bay of Bengal, between Burma and India.

Bangladesh is one of the world's most densely populated countries, with its people crammed into a delta of rivers that empties into the Bay of Bengal. Formerly East Pakistan, Bangladesh came into being only in 1971, when the two parts of Pakistan split after a bitter civil war which drew in neighboring India. The low-lying country is vulnerable to flooding and cyclones and it stands to be badly affected by predicted rises in sea levels.

Are you going for vacation or bussiness? Anyways, in 10 days...you have enough time to see the longest and one of the most beuatiful beach in the world. This is in Chittagong, where there are tribes and hilltracts.

If you are into nature and wildlife, you MUST go to the Sundarbans, which is in the South-West. This is a place like no other in the world. Wildlife at its savagest, green at its most beautiful shades, Bengal Tigers, hundreds of colorful birds and amazing reptiles will give you a time of your life. THis is the largest mangrove forest in the world.

These are some of the places that are a must. Dhaka is going to be chaotic! Be aware, civil unrests are very possible since elections are approaching.

You are going on a good time. Expect nice weather. Have a nice trip.

The flight information should be on your itinerary.

As for the rest, you should expect 10 days of sensory overload. Expect incredible, even shocking, poverty. Expect hot and humid weather. Expect cities teeming with people. Expect moments of peace. Expect to see art and architecture from 1000s of years of history.

Beauty is where you find it. Keep your eyes and mind open.
