yes the whole thing, i dont know for what retarded reason but the engineers decided that a black painted steel tube was the way to go on these,

it is a very common issue on these because well any rocket scientist should know that steel plus water plus oxygen equals iron oxide in which is known as rust, and well the rust goes through the tubing and is toasted eventually

really you could just get some aluminum tubing from a hardware or some other supplies store of some kind of the same size as the steel tubing and use hose clamps and just repair the sections that are rusted out

this is what we do,

its easy to cut the tubing, both the steel and the aluminum

the cooling system is only 16PSI

hose clamps are what to use to repair this tubing,

, but on these tubes the engineers went with a compressed one-piece design where the rubber is permanently attached to the steel tubing for whatever reason being unknown, other than to most lilkely save manufacturing costs, in which all manufacturers of products do, especially in todays world

good luck

your brother may be right. you may be able to replace the o- ring but if you check it by taking it apart you may want to be prepared to replace the whole thing worst case scenario.
