It only lasts for three days usually and I can never be sure when it will come back. Sometimes it is almost two months in between periods. Could it be that I am not healthy? What is causing this to happen?

How old are you? It's very normal for your period to be irregular in the first few years...it can take up to five years to even out, though you should see a doctor if you're still irregular after two years or so.

However, it sounds to me like you are indeed pretty regular - just not on the typical 28-day cycle. Every person is different, and a period is considered normal as long as it happens every 40 days or less...so don't worry too much. It's also normal for it to only last three days.

If you're really concerned, go see a doctor. It will make you feel much better.

Well I'm only telling you this because it happen to me. I use to have very irregular periods that only lasted maybe 8 hours. Then I would sometimes go without a period for over a year at a time. Thankfully I was able to have children but after my last child my doctor found out that I was developing cervical cancer and I had to have a total hysterectomy. I'm not telling you this to scare you and I hope that I haven't but you need to go to your doctor and get it checked out. There could be many reasons way your periods are irregular. Good luck to you.

dear, im 38 and have always had irregular periods since i started at 10 yrs old..there were times that i didnt even have one for 6 months..its perfectly normal, my doctor said that not every woman will be monthly..you have nothing to worry about..the only time that will be difficult in predicting is when you try to conceive..if your concerned about wanting a period monthly, do what i did, i took the pill to regulate mine..it works, you'll have one every month..if the pill isnt an option, then talk to your doctor about other options..
