In the beginning of the episode she didn't die when she was shot coz she was wearing a bullet proof vest, then she was shot in the head and that's all I saw coz my power went out.

It was Callie she was shot in the chest and she had on a vest so she was fine. She was never shot in the head because the undercover cop Jake was there and he shot the guy that shot her.
