For a project I have to research political and social events that happened in Southeast Asia (Brunei, Myanmar , Cambodia, East Timor , Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) in 1958 (supposedly it was an important year... I would like to know why). Please be specific and provide facts that have a full explanation. (The dates can be all around the 1950's and early 1960's. Any fact will do.)Thanks

Check your local library for the Encyclopedia Britannica Book of the Year for 1958. It is a supplement that they used to publish with some exceptional relevant facts for the year. When I collected them, 1958 was before that time, so I can't specifically help there, but your librarian could help.

There are archive sites and newspaper sites, but most have subscription charges or fees for specific things past a certain cut-off date for their normal subscribers. Sorry, unless you are going to reimburse me, I'm not going there. Remember even newspapers have piles of old issues that often don't get put into internet-accessable form. Now if you want to go to the Brunei Times and read old issues, you will probably get all you want as they dust off the old stacks in the archive.

Now if you want to cough up some specific keywords and terms and names, there are piles of things that can be found. But plugging in Myanmar +1958 is going to give you much vaguer results than if you wanted, say, to know about the Burmese (the country's name wasn't changed yet) Mon United Front surrendered their weapons or about the independence of Singapore, that would give more concrete results for anyone you enlist to help you do your research.
