Clearly not, judgin by the responses here.
I've met a couple of others that thought the same - they hadn't been in a similar environment.
Personally, I think it's the best thing since (and similar credit to) Fawlty Towers. You have to understand the way the banal office life has been captured with those awkward pregnant pauses, the contstant sound of things like the photocopier in the background and the cringeworthy characters that, like in a real office, you spend your time wanting to either shout at or punch.

But then, it's not going to be for everyone - I too have often felt alienated from society for finding 'Friends' totally unlaughable garbage.

Its mildly amusing, It is a very long way away from being the supposed best comedy ever on the TV. People have very short memories and seem to forget such comedies as The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers and Father Ted, all of the ones i just mentioned are laugh out loud comic genius. The Office tends to tap in to the comedy of embarrassment which although funny just cannot provide all out belly laughs. Just my opinion.

The Office isn't a straight 'comedy' as per the likes of Fools and Horses, and garbage like that. It's a whole combination of tragedy with comic moments, black humour, irony and many other subtle facets. If you don't appreciate the power of these aspects, then you won't appreciate The Office.

I think you should stick to unsophisticated television output, subtlety is obviously wasted on you.

The Office is EXTREMELY FUNNY!!

On paper. Well, it's probably a little bit funny on paper.

The second they start acting out their scripts the whole thing is just one big ponce acting poncy and its 'kind of' entertaining if you're a couch potato that can't reach the remote control. it's just clogging up space for other (hopefully better) tv series...

I love the idea of it but i wish it would have just stayed like that; as an idea!

No, you're not. I reject the school of "cringe comedy" (Little Britain, Catherine Tate, etc.) as having any comedic value at all. It's not creative, it's just a gross exaggeration of real life, whereas true comedy is real life observed in such a way as to bring out the natural humour. See Bill Bailey for *proper* comedy.

I tried it because I thought the British version (the ORIGINAL version) was so funny. But Americans are pretty lousy in trying to copy the British comedies, and I thought "The Office" was no exception.

actually, you're not the only one but i think its hilarious. you get past the dry humor but the thing that really ruined the show for me is that its an exact copy of the british version of "the office." its a good show none the less ands its given me several laughs over the past 3 seasons

I think you have to relate to it to find it funny. I work in an office with people who act like complete unprofessional clowns, so I find the show hysterical.

I have watched it several times, and I think I understand what the creators were trying to accomplish, but I find it very painful to watch. I usually don't. I find their attempt at humor comparable to an adult version of 12-year-old body/fart jokes. It's just painful.

Its funny on occasion but I can't understand what all the hype over this show is about, it ain't nothing special, talk about overrated!
