i take birth control and I got my period 2 weeks before it was due. i've never been irregular and i've never missed a day before. i've been on the same pill for over a year. should i see my doctor? has anyone had this happen to them?

Yes you should see your doctor since this has never happened before. Maybe there is something going on that your doctor needs to know about. When I was on birth control I NEVER had a period. So maybe it's normal, but I don't think so because you said that this was the first time it has happened. So go and see your doctor. Hopefully he can put your mind at ease.

You could have been bleeding for a completely different reason. It could have nothing to do with your pills. Irregular bleeding can be a sign of an STD or pelvic infection. It can be a sign of any other systemic bleeding disorder. Ovarian cysts are also huge reasons for irregular periods.

yes, i began to bleed every 2 weeks, i had to stop the pill, eventually i was bleeding constantly for 3 yrs, it was cancer and endometriosis caused it but back then no one knew what endometriosis was, see a doctor now.

is is possible that you missed a day or took one later than usual? today's birthcontrol is very low in stregth, that is why they urge you to take it consistantly at the same time.

if missed one or had many late doses that could be the reason why you now have your period
