I've met a few, and they're nice people who are just like everyone else. They don't deserve to be judged so harshly just because of their sexual preference. They're still people!

What's to hate about a gay person? Sex between two men or between two women? Sex occurs behind closed doors and does not affect anybody other than the people engaging in it.
Most often it's the religion issue that is the root of hatred towards gays. Some people say that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin. But the Bible has many references to other "issues" that society no longer sees as sin. The Bible was written long ago and could not have foreseen the changes and needs of future societies. Yet people who HATE gay people typically see themselves as good Christians. Why do these good Christians have so much HATE? HATE is not a Christian value. Compassion, Forgiveness, Love, and Acceptance are.
If gays are "so bad" then so are people of different races, different religions, different classes, and on and on. They are all simply differences that make us each unique. What a boring world if we didn't have difference from one another.
Remember when women didnt have rights? Remember when African Americans were enslaved and hated in America? And then, gradually, people became educated and compassionate, they realized there was no reason to hate or discriminate.
Gays make up a large part of society. They are supportive parents, quality educators, talented artists, and everyday neighbors. They are in your family, in your government, in your church, and they are deserving of love and understanding and equality as we all are.

Gay people are just like straight people they live normal lives go to school or work. Go home to there families or loved ones. Some men and women sleep around with many people but everyone does that. We are normal people and deserve the respect that straight people have because our only difference is our sexual attraction to the same sex.

Every marginalized group has to go through this. It's not a reflection on the people who are marginalized, but the people who marginalize. Each group has to get to a place where they don't have to depend on anyone else to tell them legally, professionally, or socially that they are okay. Then, they just have to live with the morons who continue to marginalize until it becomes socially unacceptable to do so.
I'm saying this as someone who prefers not to be around men who act girly and flaming, or women who act like men. You don't have to enjoy someone socially to realize that they deserve the same rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as anyone else protected by the United States Constitution.

I'm gay...and all of my friends tell me that I'm the most honest, genuine, and consoling person they know. They always tell me that they wouldn't know what to do without me, that they'd seriously be lost. I help them out with any problems they have, or they just want to talk, I'm there.
So no, I don't think we're bad people. Those that hate us even though they don't know us are ignorant people who really need some help.

NO there not BAD at all. PEOPLE only HATE gays because they like the same sex. I'm Bi (sort of). I know many "strate" people. I hate most of them. There is only one "gay" person I hate, but that is not why I hate her becaues of something that she did to some one I like....

have you ever heard about some of the storys and misconceptions about african slaves that white people used to have two hundred years ago? some of them are still widely believed like the thought that voodo is used to hurt people. but in reality 99 % of voodo is used to help and better people. the white slave holders and such were afraid of them because they found their customs (like the dancing) and the chants in an unknown language to be frightening. They were afraid because they did not understand them, they were diffrent. All humans have this fear of the new the unknown . that is what is happening with homosexuals. people dont understand them so they shun them and believe lies about them. but in reality gay ppl are just like everyone else. and are very nice.
