Yes, same as any minority, oppressed group in our society. If a group's morality is ever in doubt, then the minute someone messes up, it reflects poorly on the entire community, even though we are all individuals and all trying to make our way in the world. What one person does means nothing except to that person, but I'm sure some people still think that, thanks to Silence of the Lambs, that transsexuals are homocidal maniacs, that, thanks to Aileen Wuornos, all lesbians want to kill men, yada yada yada. We are barely allowed to be anything less than perfect, or else the imperfection is a sign that there's something wrong with homosexuality.
I've noticed it time and time again- people asking "Should we truly honor Matthew Shepherd or Brandon Teena, when neither were exactly the saints they were made out to be?". That's just the point- why should they have to be saints? You take someone's flaws in stride with the rest of their life, and understand that homosexuality is but a small part of it.
Those are my thoughts on the subject, at least.

Because straight people can just let it all hang out and let their lawn grow, let the kids trash up their yard, let their boss think they are a slacker and all will be fine for them, because they are "Normal" in society. People just find those types of people trashy or just lazy, wich to most is 100x's more acceptable to be than GAY!
So therefore, Gay people have to keep up their yards, do a good job at work because if they didnt they wouldnt get away with those things like a straight person would. It would give the gay bashers something to fire them for on the job, it would give them an excuse.

Absolutely not.................. does it work that way for people of mixed heritage? People from other countries? Minorities? If you have to work twice as hard to be productive, than you are not doing your job well. Your home is your castle...... live in it. Dressing to impress is a personal decision..... manner and morals are bred into you...as well as what you retain and live by.
And no one should ever be thought of as 1/2 as good. No one has the right to judge anyone......God will do that .

I have two sides to this question.
Ok...yes, we do. There are so many people that hate us, that we have to work harder than everyone else just to get recognized as half decent people. This is due to society and the way people have been raised.
Second, no, we don't. That is a stereotype, and stereotypes are for those that can't think for themselves. It ticks me off when people think like that.

I agree we are held to a higher standard.
But I don't think it's by others I think we tend to hold ourselves to a higher standard....like we have something to prove.
This is why we are twice as likely to join the Marine Corps as we are any other branch of military.

I always though they did that BECAUSE they're gay, not becasue they have to prove themselves. I don't see anything wrong with any of tose things gay, straight, or crooked as a wet noodle. What I don't get are the gay people that feel they need to be so flambouyant and negative. Why do they feel they need to dress so weird in the Pride Parade? What's that supposed to prove?
Anyway, keep doing what you doing because that's what defines you, not being gay. I do all that am I'm the furthest thing from being gay. I do it becasue I like to do it, not to impress anyone. The only person I HAVE to impress is me!!

Not that I've ever seen.
I knew a couple of elderly gay men that were old farm boys, and their place was a real dump. I don't thing it makes any difference at all other than what comes from within, like your attitudes.

No, they just feel they are.
Natural paranoia, just like everyone else except white men who are apparently the ultimate abusers and the only people in the world who aren't working twice as hard to achieve the same thing... speaking as a white heterosexual male... but maybe I'm just opressing EVERYONE. ;-)

No, it is just naturally the way they are.
Sorry Richard B
I did not mean this negatively. Have gays in our family and some friends also, and they are naturally artistic with lots of talent, and they really know how to do a lot of different things, and they do them very well.
