what u did was short circuit the board, when it says do ont remove the equipment it is not able to stop the processes going on with it and uu should try later, so basically u fried ur ipod and theres no way of getting the songs back, when u try to safely remove hardware it soemeimtes doesnt work so u must shut the computer off completely to safely do it, i did it to my digital camera a few times and it just erases what ever memory was active but that i can restore not really its becuz it was just pictures and i had saved them, if u have teh songs saved all of tem its okay, u dint lose teh songs but iur ipod is more than likey fried becuz u pulled the wires out when it was recieving and sending info to the computer soo sorry to tell u but that was a really bad move on ur part, good luck getting a new one

this basically happened to me. i pods are stupid.
you have to toggle the hold switch at the top (meaning move back and forth a few times) and then at the same time hold down the center button and the top button until it resets.
if it does not work the first time try it again, on a flat surface. you have to hold the buttons for a while.
if that doesnt work give it a few days and try to plug it in to the charger. it will eventually run out of battery and the apple sign will go away. i dont know. the ipod website helps. good luck

It is very simple to fix it happens to me a lot on my ipod nano.
make sure your ipod is unlocked by sliding the switch at the top.
Then hold down the MENU button and the center select at the same time for ten seconds. An apple should be up on the screen . (It is rebooting) You should then be good to go.I'm not sure what model you have but check out www.apple.com and go to IPOD support. Good Luck!

Take it to the closest apple store. Oh, and make sure it's charged & keep trying to turn it on because mine did the same thing and all of a sudden turned on one day and has been working ever since.

if you see the apple sign click the bottom and hold it until it turns off. then just turn it backk again. or press the bottom and the top for 20 to 30 seconds and it should work. that's what my sis said she does.
