well for the past couple of days i have been sleeping in math class so i have not been getting wat we r doing in class.
some of the problems on my homework are 8over10= 5over x
and u would have to find out wat x is like by doing cross muliply or something like that.
that is yesterdays homework but i can still turn it in.
and todays homework is the same thing so i don't kno how to do it either.
i need help please because my online tutor isn't online and i don't get it. so can someone please help me understand this.

8 over 10 = 5 over x
yes you cross multiply. you multiply 8 by x and 10 by 5
so you get 8x = 50 = divide 50 by 8 and you get x = 50 over 8 = reduced into 25 over 4
you basically do the same thing for all those problems..just cross multiply
your school should have an afterschool tutor, attend those and catch up on what you've missed
i sleep in class too =) but learn to pick the classes you sleep in lol, for example, i sleep in compsci class cuz seriuosly? who needs to know that...not liek ima be a graphics person or anyting like that.

8/10 = 5/x If you cross multiplied, it would be this:
8x = 50
Then, you would divide both sides by the coefficent, which is 8. Look at it as you want the letters on one side, and the numbers on the other.
Since 50/8 doesn't come up to be a whole number, you need to simplify it into the Lowest terms, where it can't be simplified any more.
so, the least common denominator is 2. You would simplify the 50/8 into 25/4. Or, if your teacher wants mixed numbers, you could also write it as 6 and 1/4.
Hope that helps.

First turn both mixed fractions into improper fractions 13 1/3=40/3 6 2/9=56/9 Now you divide: 40/3 / 56/9 take reciprical of 56/9 40/3 * 9/56 = 360/168 Change to mixed fraction and simplify 2 24/168 = 2 1/7

im in 8th grade and im 13 too! well the problem is 8/10= 5/x. wut u have to do is cross multiply. u always have to multiply either the top of the first # times the bottom of the second # or the bottom of the 1st times the bottom of the 2nd. in this case, u need to do 10 times 5. it equals 50. now u have to take that number and divide by the remaining number... in this case u do 50 divided by 8.... this gives u 5.5... sooo x=5.5. lets do another example....
3over5=x over 15...
u do the 3 times 15 which equals 45. then u do 45 divided by 5 and that means that x=9..

Cross multiplying is the way to figure it out. I'll give you an example.
2/5 = 4/x
The first thing you do is multiply the top (numerator) of each fraction with the bottom (denominator) of the other fraction. In my example, you come up with the following.
2x = 20
Next, you divide each side of the equation to find out what x equals. In this case, divide by 2.
x = 10
so
2/5 = 4/10
Hope that helps.

Cross multiply so 10 X 5 is 50. Then do 50 divided by 8 since 8 times x can't be done. now once you figure out the division your answer is X= 6.21

To find the answer all you do is cross-multiply and then divide to get the value of x. For example, here's how to do the problem you said:
8 = 5
__ __
10 X
By cross-multiplying you get: 8x = 50
Now divide by 8 on both sides to get the value of x, which is 6.25.
I hope you understand now...Good luck! ;-)

8/10 = 5/x
Multiply both sides to get rid of the fractions; this means multiplying by 10*x; then you will get
8*x = 5*10
Now divide both sides by 8 to get x all by itself on the left:
x = 5*10/8
