That's great that you want to take the first steps to get healthy. By dancing you will definitely lose weight if you also control your diet. This is key: you have to know that it takes 3500 calories to burn one pound. You should eat 1200-1500 calories a day and DANCE your heart out. Any kind is fine as long as you DANCE for an hour or so, HIP HOP, IRISH DANCING, BELLY DANCING, these will all help you to lose weight and feel better about youself! Good Luck!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

Guessing you're roughly college age and in reasonably good health, any would be fine. Even a slow and seemingly sedate dance form takes a lot of control and will give you a good workout. If Irish is interesting to you, then your interest might mean you'd stay with it better than a form that you go into purely for the exercise.

Irish dance is a good idea once you got the basics of dancing. If you really wanna loose weight i suggest beggining with latin or some sort of samba. Belly dancing is also a great idea. Did you know that the average belly dancer looses up to 300 calories per hour? Plus, its sexy.

I took Irish for 2 years, and let me tell ya, its hard work and you sweat ALOT... but that's good if you want to lose weight. But, may i recommend ballet... it's even more difficult than Irish and you are more likely to lose more weight.
Good luck!

I'm a dancer and ballet is the best way to lose weight. I did and I ended up loving ballet more than the other dances.

Any kind of dance is great but ballet is a basis for alot if not all or any other kind of dance and let me tell you, at first, you will hurt in places you didn't think you'd hurt.

ummm... i am a dancer, and the best dance to do is something that actually moves a lot, if you want to lose it in your legs, you probably want to do ballet, but it takes a long time for any improvement, you can do tap too, or the fastness thing to do is palates w/ a private teacher, to work on that, but if it's in your stomach you can do jazz, but i still think palates is the best.

Try belly dancing! It's all about being comfortable with yourself, it's low impact and very kind on the feminine figure. Good luck!
