when madonna kissed cristina augulara than when she kissed britany spears it happened at almost the same time so why did the one with britany so much more important

because the camera made a close up at the exact time
not the same with Christina
plus the kiss with Christina was shorter, and looked forced
plus it was the first, and we where still shook up (or enjoying it) when the second happened

The reason for this is simple, because the camera caught the kiss between Madonna and Spears. Immediately after their kiss, the camera panned over to Justin Timberlake to catch his reaction. By the time the camera panned back to the stage, Aguilera and Madonna's was wrapping up. No one actually saw the entire kiss.
Plus, like everyone else said, Aguilera was more controversial than Spears.

At the time people were used to Christina shocking the audience while Britney was a little "innocent" thing. It was more surprising to see B. S. do it.

Because Christina had already established her image at the time as a "dirty girl". Britney was trying to remake her image from innocent school girl to dirty girl, plus it had been reported that she and Madonna had become close friends, because she admired Madonna.
