Well you just never know, everyone is different. You could stay at 2cm for the rest of your pregnancy, but it is also possible to "close back up".... On the other hand you could be on your way. With both of my pregnancies I had my water broke by my doc in the hospital when I was 4 cm and after your water is broke you will go to 10 in no time and labor will go much quicker! Are you over anxious for your baby to come? I was. If you are I suggest at maybe 38 weeks to go in to the hospital and tell them you have been feeling contractions, they may just keep you and induce labor. It is worth a shot in my opinion. Good luck, and if you have anymore questions, maybe I could help. jmarks1819@yahoo.com

By the time i was 36 weeks i was 4 cm dilated. I gave birth to my son three days before my due date and was in labor about nine hours. Every women and every pregnancy is different. Just because you are dilated doesnt mean the baby will come early. Best of luck

I have been 2 cm since last Monday I am 40 weeks and 4days pregnant and my doctor has said they will induce me for sure by Friday if my baby doesn't come sooner as I am not dilating but having contraction 7-10 mins apart for the past three days. My baby is large so I must be induced as the doctor fears I will have to have a c section if I go to much farther. I am past my date however you are still early they will let you stay that way as long as your water doesn't break and you don't have a bloody show. I wish you the best of luck and hang in there it sounds like things are going good for you. take care.

My first pregnancy I went to the hospital with contractions 2 min. apart and found that I was dilated to 2cm (around 11am). They told me it would take hours and I may not have the baby that day. After about an hour I was at 3cm. They next thing I knew, my water broke and I was at 10cm and ready to deliver (around 4:30pm). Well so much for a long wait. The thing to note is every pregnancy is different. What for your close contractions, mucus plug lose, or water breaking - definite signs the baby is on its way.

you can stay that way for a couple weeks.. but probably yes, it's coming soon. It seems to take a few weeks to get open that first 2 or 3. After that labor will start, and you'll dilate to 10 within hours... the quicker the better, right honey?

You could go into labor as soon as today or as late as a month from now. When i was pregnant with my third child,I was dilated to 3 cm for a month before I gave birth.Labor and delivery is not an exact science.Hope that helps.

It just depends. You can be 2 cm dilated for a month or so before you actually go into labor. However, you could also go into labor tonight. Just depends all on your little one and when they decide they are ready to come on out.

No, you can be dilated to 2 for a long time. I was dilated to 2 with my first for over a month. Doesnt really mean anything. I was dilated to 4cm with my 3rd baby for a few weeks too.

congrats...im 38weeks and only 1cm! but unfortunately you may be in that stage for quite some time...it could be for a month but it could also be for a week. everyones body is different, i would notify my doctor to see what other condtions are going on such as effacment and station of the baby.
