Because most black people believe in a more socialistic, cooperative society. I personally do not support unchecked capitalism. It just isn't very compassionate. I don't believe in the moral majority. I don't believe in law based on Christian principals alone. I personally am pro-life and anti-death penalty. I believe life is sacred. I don't beleive any human can be killed for ANYTHING, EVER, EVER, EVER. I don't beleive our courts or juries have the authority to change that. I am a white man with a college education. My wife is a black woman with an MBA from Columbia. I think that people who are conservative Republicans don't want to do anything for anybody. They want it to be ME, ME, ME, and MY CHURCH.

By the way, I AM OWED SOMETHING. As an American I am owed life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness. Any legislation that allows rich people to remain rich, while keeping me in their servitude with low wages and unequal opportunities is an EVIL person.

the blacks always as a whole vote Dem, because the Dem's promise them all kind of freebies , what the blacks don't seem to understand is that when these slick politicians promise these things in most cases can't deliver even if they tried to because there are others who must also decide on wheather or not to give these freebies away, and the politician who made all of these promises makes a feeble effort and then forget it but, when election time comes gain he will get on his podium and tell them how he tried to get this or that for them and they believe him again,Americans are getting tired of these continued generations of welfare families staying on the welfare rolls gen after gen, and no politician will go against the majority, The Jew's have in the past put their force behind the black man but now that the blacks see it was also a farce they quit backing the Jew's so now we might be able to get our congress and senate back from them after all don't you feel they are over represented , since Jew's have over 60% of the seats in congress and senate.we could save billions of dollars a year if we stropped supporting Israel so they can live so high and mighty,

Well, some black people chose to be democrats for the same reason some white people choose to be democrats, because they see democrats as a group with a platform that speaks to what they care about.

Democrats speak to issues that appeal to "black" people, many of whom live in poverty or are working class. They also speak to the black community inclusively, as if black people are on their level, in their group, considered part of their party, of concern to them. Republicans don't appeal to the people "on the bottom" in the same way, so are not perceived to champion the causes of minorities.

Now, I say that Democrats speak to these things, but I didn't say that they really do anything about it. Poverty programs 9 times out of 10 fail to address the needs of or improve the lives of the poor. I would venture to say that most of the time, they actual harm people even more. They keep people on the brink, but never let them pull themselves up, by design. I've seen this up close and personal in hard-working people that I've worked with. Welfare to Work is one example -- cheap labor disguised as job training in a position that will be filled by another Welfare worker as soon as you get that certificate. Why would that company ever need to hire you?

I will end my answer by saying that both parties truly operate and serve by the golden rule. He who has the gold, rules. Political parties are part of the machine that allows them to do that.

Tradition. It's the same with Jews. An overwhelming majority vote Dem because their families have since the 30's. It's hard to convince people that times have changed & the parties have changed a lot.

Everyone has a choice and not all black people are democrats. A majority of less wealthy people are democrats because they feel republicans do more for the rich and high taxes...and so on. I am a democrat and I am not black or poor. People just have different opinions.

Traditionally republicans have been wealthy[last repulican convention was a group of the wealthist] and policies tend to favor the weathy. Case in point government approval of corporate mergers. Oil companies merging, what are there now three major oil companies in USA? Also tax breaks for exploration, followed by all time high profits. Black people have not been convinced republicans have a clue to the problems of the poor.

Not all black people are Dems.

I have co-workers that are black and are Republicans (and they're all in the military, too!)

After Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, Blacks perceived a better lifestyle, though his policies weren't directed toward them. Since then, the Democrats have been better at BSing the Black vote than the Republicans have been. The Republicans talk about legislation that would help all people, while Democrats talk about things that would help Blacks specifically. Though, none of these social programs have actually helped. In fact, the Democrats have been clever to create social programs that Blacks think are helping them, like welfare, but actually keep them poor. Abortion is another one. Did you know that abortion kills more blacks than crime does each year?
