babies that little should be eating every 2 to 3 hours, the most 3 to 4 hours. if the baby isn't waking up on it's own to eat the mother should wake the baby up by changing the diaper, that way the baby is awake, alert, and ready to eat. it's not good for a newborn not to eat every few hours.

ASk her about this agian in two weeks. Babies go through growth spurts and it changes there sleep patterns. She might be only getting 2 or 3 hours next week. If it continues like that her baby could end up with failure to thrive and if she does it to long it could cause her milk supply to dwindle. But right now baby's 2 weeks old like to sleep and she isn't working to wake them for a feeding. Sleep will come to you too it just may take a while.

I have never heard of a 2 week old baby sleeping 9 hours straight. It is very possible that her baby may not be getting enough to eat. She should talk to the babys doctor, because this doesnt sound normal. Usually newborns need to eat every 2-3 hours.

Well she is lucky yes but richer milk .. NO... Baby's do what they want and both of you are lucky mine is 11 months and still gets up throughout the night!! I would tell her ok that is great and go on with your business. Your body produces what your baby needs! Yes it is ok for a baby to do that!

Every child is different, but at 2 weeks the baby should be feeding every 3-4 hours. I think she should be concerned.

Y'know, every kid is different. It probably has nothing to do with breast milk. If you want to know more about breast milk just check out La Leche League's website. It usually is quicker to digest but they digest more of it than formula.
IMHO your friend's child's sleep is NOT due to being breastfed but just she's bigger or more lethargic.

your baby eats what you eat. and every baby is different. use your breast milk and little of rice cereal soupy, and try that during the day for napping, if it works, then do it at night, that was my success of getting more sleep at night of getting my baby tummy full!
