I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old so i caint take naps. Am I the only one who is going through this?
Also the dr told me to go to the drug store and get a iron vitamen when i asked someone to help they said call my dr. Did anyone ever buy the over the counter iron pills and are they safe?

Completely normal sunshine. After all, your body is basically running a marathon creating this life while you also have two other children to chase after. I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my first child and I'm still literally exhausted all the time.

Your doc should have given you some kind of idea on what type of iron supplements to take. I would go ahead and call his nurse or even talk to a pharmacist about which kind is going to be best for you and baby. I was told that my doc could prescribe a certain type(or brand) that had a stool softener in it that would help keep you from getting overly constipated. Talk to your pharmacist or call your doc back and get a recommendation.

Over-the-counter iron pills are safe but just be careful because they will cause you to be even more constipated than you probably already are.

Good luck.

I was pregnant quite a while ago- but I remember being so tired!
To answer your question about Iron- I was told that I was anemic while I was pregnant, and had to buy iron tablets over the counter called SlowFe. It helped!
Is there anyway you can have someone keep an eye on your kids a few afternoons a week for a couple of hours so you can nap? That would probably help you way more than the iron! Good luck!

Yes! Iron pills are very safe, especially if your dr tells you so, also get a second opinion. The reason you are tired (besides the fact that your baby is taking your energy so it can grow) is because you are to stressed out. Try cutting out some stressful things, play Mozart and eat yogurt, yogurt calms you and has iron in it (killing two birds with one stone!). Also Mozart supposedly makes baby's develop better. When you start to feel tired, breath and sit for a minute, think about calming things like happy memories in your life, or what you going to mane your baby. If this doesn't work, go to a doctor and/or get a sonogram of your baby, not to freak you out but there might be a serious problem with the development with your child and it is taking your energy to fix the problem. This is just a spur of the moment thought so don't get scared, just be concerned. Good luck with the baby and God bless.

I had to buy over the counter iron pills. My doctor told me exactly what strength to buy, because my iron count was so very low. The only place I could find mine was walgreens. It is perfectly safe to take these, it even helps the unborn baby! I was tired all of the time during my third pregnancy as well. You have two other children to chase all the time, so that takes a lot of energy :). I am sorry to say I was tired the entire 9 months. Hope this helps. Congrat's on the new baby

Hello well when I was pregnant (1st trimester) I was also over exhausted even if I slept for 8-9 hours strait I told my doctor about it and I had a few tests done and the results were I was anemic. So he told me to buy Materna (they're vitamins) but he told me that no Iron pills were necessary infact they are hazardous since Materna has the amount of Iron required. All I had to do was take my vitamins and eat food that was high in iron like liver and spinach. My second and 3rd trimester I was energetic I used to climb, jump and run! Goodluck and don't worry stress isn't good at all!

You are not abnormal! Even not being pg having two little ones is exhausting. I just took a prenatal with iron during my pregnancies. You can also get good herbal teas that supply vital minerals. Try Nettle, Red Raspberry Leaf, and Alfalfa. Add in a bit of peppermint to make it taste better. Sweeten with honey and drink hot or cold.

it's very safe to take pregnancy vitamins. you need the folic acid and iron especially to help prevent some birth defects. You will soon get your energy back, so not to worry.
ps. I am a mother of three and been preg 4 times.

iron pills will help with energy. They are completely safe, and they will help your babies brain develop healthily. They make you constipated, though.
Every pregnancy is different, if we all had textbook pregnancies, what would we need the doctors for?
