Gary Jennings authored a book titled AZTEC. In order to provide an accurate story he moved to the area and spent 20 years in study of the culture and stories of the past. It's one of the best books I've ever read and would highly recommend it. There are numerous ceremonies depending on the season, the reason, etc. There were the sacrificial ceremonies we've all heard about. It was considered an honor to be one found sufficiently sacred to be sacrificed to the gods. It was a different time and the views of such were quite unlike those of the present day. They were a fairly advanced civilization technologically and otherwise.
