The X-Box Premier ($399) will play MANY of the original X-Box games, but not all. If you have the 360 Core, you can purchase the hard drive needed to play the original games for about $100. In addition to the hard drive, you'll also have to obtain live updates for your Xbox 360 console. Three way to do that are:
- Update through Xbox Live®.
- Burn a DVD or CD.
- Order a disc by mail from www.Xbox.com.

Getting the update free through Xbox Live is the best option because your console will be updated automatically as new games are supported. In order to update your Xbox 360 console over Xbox Live, a broadband Ethernet connection to the Internet and an Xbox Live account are required. The Xbox Live account can be either a Gold or Silver membership.

Here's a current list of games that are backward compatible on the 360: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm.
