First, it's an amendment to the Constitution. The reason is that Franklin Roosevelt was elected 4 times in a row. Previously, Presidents quit after 2 terms to recognize the tradition set by George Washington. After FDR, an Amendment was passed limiting to 2 terms, or 10 years. 10 years in case a President died 2 years into his/her presidency. The VP could then finish the 2 years, and run 2 more times if they like. If the VP took over the last 3 years of a President's term, then he/she could only run for re-election once more.

Because when the most popular president of all time, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was voted in for the 4th term of office the Republicans insisted on ammending the Constitution to limit the president's term of office to just 2 consecutive terms or 10 years.

The Constitution has it limited to two terms. I think all elected Federal officials should have only one term in office, then unless they run for President, they cannot hold another elected office.

that would cut down on the life long politicians like Tedd Kennedy, and cut down on the number of them on the take from big business and from Unions.

Limit them across the board and America would get back to where we should be.

..... " aloud " ........?

I DON'T THINK THAT LIMITING THE PRESIDENT TO TWO TERMS IS A VERY GOOD IDEA. I SUPPOSE THAT MOST AMERICANS THOUGHT THAT IF THEY EVER VOTED FOR ANOTHER PRESIDENT THREE TIMES LIKE THEY DID WITH FDR IT WOULD BE A MISTAKE TO DO SO. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY ELECTING FDR THREE OR FOUR TIMES WAS A MISTAKE OR WHY ELECTING ANYBODY ELSE THAT OFTEN IS A MISTAKE. BUT, AT THE TIME, MOST THOUGHT THAT THEY SHOULDN'T DO IT EVER AGAIN.

Is that loud enough for you?
