The SAT is now scored differently, with the top score being a 2400. (Three sections, each with a possible 800 score.)

This means that a score between 2100 and a 2370 will probably be the average score of those admitted to Yale this coming year.

As a previous answerer pointed out, 25% of those admitted will probably score above that, and 25% will probably score below that. And those that scored below 2100 will surely have some other outstanding characteristics that helped them to gain admission.

Depending on your major you might not need a perfect score. Subjects that the school is known for and sciences will probably require a perfect or damn close to perfect score.

According to princetonreview.com the middle area for SATs seems to be between a 1400 and a 1580. With 25% of the students getting above that (wow!) and 25% getting below that.

I would guess that the 25% below a 1400 did things like find cures for cancer, discover a planet, publish a bestselling book, had a father who was the president of the united states sort of thing.
