I replaced the wires and ditributor cap and roter but still does it when wet out. It contiues to spuder until it warms up all the way. The check engine soon light flashes until it is warmed up and then it just stays on without flashing. I smell the gas if I keep trying to start it and eventually it starts runing on a couple of cylinders and then eventually all start firing.

Well, for one, if the check engine light is on, I'd get the diagnostic done. That defenitely tell you where the problem, or more are at.

Several reasons:

1. Fuel filter - when was the last you checked/changed it?.
2. It also sounds like your gas line has moisture. Try gas line antifreeze. If that does not fix the problem,
3. check the gas tank (get it done, not by yourself) for water condensation. Drain, refill.
4. Your fuel pump. It is starting to stutter. You may have to replace it sooner than you think.
5. This one may be basic - you may have already done this one: EGR(Exhaust Gas Recycle) valve. Did you replace.?
6. Air filter. Check for blockage. Replace. Also check the intake hose to the airfilter. Overtime, it collects dirt and blockage can occur. Clean.
7. Spark plugs. Did you replace?

This problem will get worse as winter gets severe. You do not want to be stuck in the middle of a highway in a blinding snowstorm. Take precautions.

You probably have moisture trapped under the distributor cap.
The water condenses on the inside of the new cap now.

You need to remove the distributor cap and leave it off for a couple hours for the inside of the distibuter to dry out completly.

Do this after the engine is all ready warmed up. It will evaporate faster.

with a bit of luck you basically have a undesirable valve instruction manual seal. that is fixed in abaout an hour on the broker. in case you have undesirable earrings, that could require basically approximately overhauling the engine. the subsequent answer is the greater effective one on account that I examine your question incorrect. If the plug twine and spark plug have been lined in oil, it would maximum in all probability be the valve cover gasket or the tube seal gasket that is going around that spark plug nicely.

on a dry day when the truck starts up, take a squirt bottle and get the coil wet. they sometimes crack and absorb moisture, if it's bad it will start to run rough. it may take a pretty good soaking. i would imagine the codes that are setting are misfire codes.
