I keep reading, hearing, trying to learn, so as not to repeat mistakes,
and have yet to find a 'transparent' version of what happened and when it started, and how it ended. As well, will it happen again? When? Serious answers only please. Thanks

Great question. I'm just going to point you to an article I wrote on my blog. I wrote it on the current housing market but this aspect of bubbles is always the same. It was true in the 1929 crash, the 2000,and now the housing crash. It's very simple: market dynamics and psychology.
