About nine months ago, my cycle became what I consider "abnormal". I will bleed for five days, then about a week and a half after the fifth day, I will start to bleed again. Lately, however, my cycle has gotten shorter. For example, my last fifth day was on the 22nd of November. I started my period again today. Any possible explanations as to what this is? How can I treat this?

Much thanks,
Sarah.

EDIT: My mother says that my 10-day cycle is normal, and refuses to take me to the gynecologist. So another question: any natural assistance?

Your mother is wrong because what you're going through is abnormal. It is a hormonal imbalance that needs to be fixed. I know because I went through a similar thing.
Having your period more than once a month like you are is NOT normal.

I had very irregular periods where I would bleed twice a month. It gradually got worse to the point where I was bleeding all the time.

Implore on your mom what is happening is NOT normal.
If your mom still refuses to take you to the Gyn, go alone.
If that's not possible, you may have to wait until you are of age to go to the Gyn by yourself.

Good luck. :)

That is pretty strange, most periods last from 3-7 days, all in a row. The fact that your bleeding for 5 days then a week and a half later you'll bleed more, doesn't sound right. Keep in mind that your young, and your period probably isn't on a normal schedule. (that can take 2-4 years to become normal) But this case doesn't sound right. I would ask your mom to take you to the gynecologist. Maybe she can figure out what the problem is. Again, every woman is different, but I've never heard of this happening to anyone before. Ask to see a doctor, because in case it's something serious, you can get it treated as soon as possible. Rather safe than Sorry.

Well right now your body is going through a change of hormonal overload. It happens to everyone. Its either it goes absolutely berserk with your period or lack there of. You might also want to drink cranberry juice or arizon tea with raspberry or raspberry tea's. these are all natural to help a women during her cycles.

I would suggest you call the dr. I have heard of this happening, but to rule out other possiblities like anemia or it just normal.
Menarche is a girl's first menstrual cycle. A first period usually happens after several years of pubic hair growth, breast development, and rapid growth known as a "growth spurt." Menarche most commonly happens sometime between ages 11 and 14.7

The first menstrual cycles are usually light and unpredictable. During the first 2 years, a typical teenage menstrual cycle can be anywhere from 21 to 42 days long. About 2 out of 3 girls have a regular pattern of menstrual periods within 2 years of menarche.5

Long, heavy periods are fairly common during the teen years. The hormone (endocrine) system is still maturing, and progesterone levels aren't always high enough during regular cycles to help the uterine lining (endometrium) break down. When the endometrium has built up for too long, heavy menstrual bleeding follows. This type of bleeding usually gets better on its own, without treatment. However, see a health professional for menstrual bleeding that lasts longer than 7 days or for cycles that are shorter than 21 days or longer than 42 days. For more information, see the topic Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding.

Your period may have a problem reproducing or cycling properly. Sometimes it has to do with stress related illnesses. I say if this progresses that you may want to look into a female doctor that may be able to help you. It sounds as though your body is cycling, but after a while it relaxes and there is still blood tissue and run off that was stuck in the grooves of your vagina. If you are currently using a tampon, it be best you switch to a pad to allow a clear drain. If progresses see medical attention for more information.

Do not worry. Your just fine. In your age ,your Body is still adjusting. Cycles can be short or long and bleeding can be heavier at some times than others.
But as young as you are their are some factors you can learn to control, like any kind of Stress, Diet, Exercise.Especially Stress can influence the women cycles.
But otherwise if you do not experience any other medical problems your cycle should be OK. As you grow up so will you cycle adjust to your age. Most of us have their Period every 21 to 30 Days and it will last about 5 to 7 days. As you get older,30+ after having a child your period usually get shorter.
So relax during that time and enjoy your young Life.

i do not advise to offend you, yet you sound very uneducated, and paranoid besides. If a guy's sperm hasn't gotten interior your vagina, you won't be able to be pregnant. Sperm dies fairly instantly at the same time as out in the exterior. In a lady's body, it would want to live on for just about 2 weeks. So, you went swimming.... until eventually a guy or boy has jacked off in the pool...oh wait, nonetheless no longer in the nice and cozy temperature of a lady's body and uncovered to chemical substances? there's no longer the slightest probability that you're pregnant. 2 days is easily no longer something. Your body isn't on a strict time table. i'll not in any respect understand why this kind of large style of ladies can not study this stuff on their personal, or a minimum of be in song with their personal bodies. We do have the internet, you recognize. Why do not you %. up an anatomy e book at the same time as you're at it?

Hi Sarah. First, don't be alarmed because our cycles can get strange sometimes for lots of reasons. We can even stop having it completely if we are too stressed. Have you been having a lot of stress recently? I would give a call to the doctor to see what she thinks. I am sure it is ok, but I don't want you to worry so get some pro advice on thsi one.

Could be a number of things. Are you sexually active? Have you seen a OB/GYN? You really should if you can. Talk to your parents. If that's not possible look for an organization such as planned parenthood in your area that can provide you with an exam to make sure you're okay. Good luck either way!
