I do. That's what makes it kind of nice - looking for a question I may have some knowledge or wisdom on and trying to give the best answer I can.

I've found that the people who ask some questions on here (not, obviously, "how to get rust out of the bath tub") sometimes seem to be in need of serious, well-thought-out feedback or ideas. Sometimes I imagine how a person is young, and I think about what I'd want if that were my son or daughter online and asking strangers' opinions on things. I take the questions seriously and answer in the way I'd hope some sensible person would answer a son or daughter of mine in the same situation.

I know some of the questions aren't even intended as serious, but either way - trying to come up with the best answer I can come up with is a sort of mental exercise for me (that beats playing Solitaire in my spare time).

If someone asks a very serious question, I kind of get a kick out of giving their question a whole lot of time and thinking and imagining how maybe they will get a really good answer for their "money" on Answers. I imagine how its kind of like giving a stranger a little gift if the answer turns out to be what they were looking for.

It can only be taken as seriously as the source of the answers. There are tons of people answering questions who are totally clueless. That's the difference between an opinion and a correct answer. Many questions are very open and welcome hazy responses. Here, there is no penalty for being wrong. But in fairness, I have seen many solid answers too, especially in the technical areas. Overall, I would not base my important future plans on the responses you get here. Have fun with it!

i would say that many take it seriously but some just want to see how many points they can rack up. personally i like to think that i am helping someone out with my viewpoints. life can be rough and it is often hard to see things from a different perspective when you are facing some trying times. so if my 2 cents can lend a hand....then so be it. i have done my good deed for the day.

constructive, I take it heavily. i does no longer waste a large area of my day on information superhighway information superhighway sites and forums if I didnt discover some seriousness in it. yet i'm also fairly immature, so as an party, right here on Yahoo! solutions, each and every once in a while, I supply some sarcastic or joking solutions fairly than a intense one. yet I nonetheless take it fairly heavily...

Seriously? I mean this is for fun, this isn't meant to take the place of a doctor of emotional problems or health quiz.
We are having fun here and asking crazy questions we couldn;t or wouldn't answer or ask anywhere else.

Some do and some don't. Some people also ask questions that are too detailed for most people so you get the people who are just trying to get points.

Its funny to see this question after I just posted one called "Sometimes I feel helpful and sometimes I don't". But just to reassure you, when I'm not feeling helpful, I answer silly questions. Only when I'm feeling helpful do I tackle the tough stuff.
