The primary waves moves the particles in the direction of its propagation.The speed will be about 13 to 17 K/M per second. Travel in all mediums.The origin is the focus of earthquake.
Secondary wave from same origin . Half the speed of primary wave. Moves the particles perpendicular to the direction of propagation. Will not travel through liquid.
3rd is love wave. Causes the lateral movement only. Starts from the surface of the earth.Last comes the Raleigh wave that will have both horizontal and vertical components most dangerous of all . To know more on this visit my slide show at URL
