For going out to see to their car that is on fire? It happened today! And a few days ago this same company fired another person who went out to help the car repair guy get a new tire on her car which someone flattened. People who are seriously ill end up getting the can at this place just for being sick. Maybe I should look for a new job?

Most states are "at will" states, which means that companies can hire and fire at will, or for any reason at all, providing there is no employment contract.
Someone else said that private companies can pretty much do what they want, which is true. Not all of them are really horrible about it. Our company is private and we really try to work with our employees.
It sounds as if your company is not that type. Definitely look for another job.

"Right" or "wrong" is a value decision and we can't answer that for someone else.
I can tell you that a private business can pretty much do what they want. So, what keeps them in line? Nothing does better to keep a company reasonable than their reputation in the eyes of the consumer, profits to stockholders, and moral of employees.
It sounds like this company may very well get what is coming to it one day...in the meantime, I'd brush the dust off your resume.

The answer to your question is Yes, you should look for another job. I don't believe that you will be able to give your all to your job if you don't respect the decisions they are making.
