The easiest way to clean the keyboards (and the way suggested by Apple) is to use a little rubbing alcohol dabbed on a cloth. Then rub the keys gently with the laptop off. This will remove any discoloration from use. If they are really bad, the MacBook keyboards are removable, but not that easy for the home user, even if you can get your hands on one. They are not sold to the public. you would have to send it in for repair- say, if one of the keys fell off. But then you would be without a laptop for a few days.

If you mean the keys are getting discolored and brownish, then you have gunk. I use parian spirit that I buy from Ulta to clean my keys on the keyboard. It is an oil based cleaner that will get rid of gunk very gently. I use a qtip to clean with a little oil on the end.

Use a baby wipe. They are not to wet so you will not have to worry about damaging any components.
A little vacuum or can of compressed air can clean loose dirt out.
