It happens a lot. Sometimes I have later found the missing sock clinging to another article of clothing by electricity or something.

I guess we should pin them together before washing them. Do they make products that will do this?

But honestly, sometimes I wonder if they get drained away in the rinse water. If that's possible. :)

The washing machine eats only one. For some reason the washer doesn't like to have more than one. I guess because socks aren't lays potato chips.

Erma Bombeck used to say that they were trying to escape one by one, and that is what I choose to believe....Would you like hanging around on peoples' feet all day??

Many socks actually end up between the inner and outer tubs of your washing machine. An appliance repair person actually proved that to me when I was having repair work done on my washer, he separated both tubs and there were several socks caught in between the two.

It is more fun to believe in the " escape" theory. Have a good night.

I sorted that one out a while back. What happens is sock no 1 says to sock no 2, "lets run away". It happens with cutlery's too. they get tired of their owner and run away to start a new life some where else.

Well, if you DON'T lose one of the pair, you don't notice. And if you lose BOTH socks of a pair, you don't notice that either (unless it was your favorite lucky socks). It's only when ONE of a pair goes walkabout that we even notice, so it sticks in our mind.

In my experience, usually one has been abducted by the Ev1l Catzz0rs to torment under the bed, and I find them a few weeks later.

Chances are that we lose pairs of socks just as often, but because both are lost, we simply don't notice. Therefore, we mustn't say that it's only one sock that gets lost all the time! :)
