what you want to do when you go the weight room is work out your calves and hamstrings, but when you do these exercises do medium weights and do them very fast.this action works out your fast-twitch muscle fibers which will help you run faster.work out your legs,it's very important.also do alot of plyometrics exercises.jumping on boxes, really fast(crouch down, with knees bent, elbows at knee level then explode up in the air on to the box, landing only on your front foot)this will help out on explosion.also try resistance running, buy an old lawn mower at a repair shop for $15.00 or something and tie it to a rope around your waist.trust me,i went from a 4.87 40 yard dash to a 4.69 in one year.and this summer i'll probably be running a 4.6 all the pros use it

you answered you own question. Run more often and try increasing your speed on a daily basis, when you're at the gym do things like spinning and a lot of cardio ( most machines have programs set for endurance), also build more strength in your legs by doing the leg press, and the other leg machines. That's about it.
