Do you mean Harry Houdini? If so, he was an accomplished stage magican (also known as Illusionists) in the early 1900's. His most famous acts involved escaping from "impossible" situations. He finally died, in front of hundreds, from a burst appendix while attempting to escape from a sealed, water-filled glass cage.

Well, there's an architect named Péter Hudini, but i'm guessing you're asking about the magician and escape artist Harry Houdini.

Houdini was a famous magician, thought he was best known for being an escape artist.

CONTRARY to what everyone above me is saying, he did NOT die on-stage in front of spectators. Though he did die of a ruptured appendix, his death occurred at Grace Hospital in Detroit.
