I was wondering if anyone knew which one of Tolkien's books had the story of the battle between the Numenoreans and the Witch-King of Angmar.

I think the Numenoreans are the rangers of the west. The Witch King of Angmar is the leader of the Ringwraiths. Gandalf defeated the witch king in The return of the king.

That sounds like it would be in the Silmarillion.
