yes the 360 play most of the regular xbox games. as far as your question goes i personally like the 360 a lot better for several reaseons 1 the variety of games and the greatness of the graphics
2 nintendo is a really good system but it can never break out of the shell as being a backup type system for serious gamers i think you will be very pleased either way but the better choice, the obvious choice is the 360 thanks for your time in reading this answer

I like both systems heres why 1. wii is super cool and its the future of gaming. 2. Wii has a great price 3. its Nintendo which means you get games like Zelda (best games ever!!!) now heres why 360 rocks 1. its still 200 bucks cheaper than that other crappy system 2. Almost every game is live compatible which means you can play against players like you from all over the country. 3. You can download cool games from live (Wii can also do this but its still not certain how many games nintendo will release for its system. maybe only games made by nintendo and a few others for legal reasons. also you mentioned the 360 core system I could be wrong but you cant play any xbox games on the 360 cuz it doesnt have a hard drive. Sony has none of the above and they make you pay for some crappy blu ray player that nobody wanted and sure as heck didnt want to pay extra for. im getting both.

I personally believe you should get the Wii. It has a Wii Sports bundled in the console, so you can immediatly start playing once you get home (after some setting up). The Xbox 360 may have better graphics, but what's the point of better graphics if you don't have many fun games to play? To my knowledge, there haven't been that many games that haven't been released on other consoles that are very popular. When Halo 3 and Wars come out, I'm sure it'll be popular. Also, in my opinion, the Sonic game would be a great game, but i don't have the 360. The Wii has many popular games, such as Sports, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and what'll be a really good game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Also, you don't have to wave your arms like a maniac, just enough so that system gets your movements. It's also more interactive and family-friendly. Also, you can download games from older consoles, with some, like Super Mario 64 and Sonic the Hedgehog (original) that are really fun to play (Even though i don't have a Wii or a 360, i heard enough about them to make a judgement.)
All in all, i believe that the Wii, with its cheaper price tag would be a better snag than the 360.

Get both. You could get a Wii and Xbox 360 for the price of a PS3. No you need the hard drive to play xbox games on 360, so get a premium version.

I'd go with the Wii. The Xbox 360 may beat in graphics and sound but if that is what I wanted then I would look at pictures and listen to music. I think Nintendo always has the better gameplay of most games than Xbox. And in the Wii it is like a reality simulater(patrialy). Because you can use a pointer, a tilt and shake reconizer, and things like that. I would much defently prefer a Wii. Hope this helps.

Go with X box 360 if you have a choice.
With the 360 you not only buy a game; you buy so much more.
You can download levels for multilayer games for free; Far-cry for example. has a map creation mode, you can download thousands of free levels;also, there are the developer created levels with custom textures, etc.
You can connect a mp3 player, or your PC to your 360 and play custom soundtracks with all games.
All X-Box games work with the 360; if you have a hard drive and the "Free x- box live silver". Witch can be used to send voice messages, videos, photos and music to friends.
You can download movies, demos, and free games off of x-box live.
Buy playing live you can get free Microsoft points and win free stuff.
Like say Contra for the nes, downloaded to your hard drive then play it on-line through the 360.
The games.
Gears of war, metal gear solid 4, Unreal tournament 2007,The elder scrolls, Grand theft auto, Saint's row, VIVA Pinata, and more!
The system is stronger than the ps3, because of the ps3's floating point in the memory, lack of memory supporting the gpu, and non window's codec comparability.
I.E: You can play Huxley; an massively multilayer on-line first-person shooter role playing game, on the 360 vs. window's xp, vista, and 2000 players; same with ut2k7, and etc.
You can hook your 360 up to to your computer, to youir digital cable conection, and save entire cable movies to youir hard drive, then send it to frinds via, computer or 360.
Wii??
It's an afterthought buy them both.
Or if you half to chouse buy the 360.
Go figure you can download nes, super nintendo, and sega games off the 360's free silver online function; Some of witch are free.
You have beter grafix, kiddy games like Viva pinita, Sonic the hedge hog, and pokemon!
YOu have first person shooter heaven.
Rpg's galore. I.E: Heaven sword etc
You're geting Metal gear solid.
It has it all.
I'm not feeding you lines like go get it, just facts telling you why it it the best.
