When my kid sister was a bern she had a video of how the film was made, now from what i can remember they foucused on a number of animals to create the beast, Lion, buffalow or bison, bull, i can not remember wether there were any more.But what i do know is they created 1of the best disney charicters ever when they put it all together (my opinion)

I think he is just a beast you cant describe what he is. It was really the looks on which they portraying, it was the personallities of them.
