Of course, if they want to. They should have the same rights as straight people.

I don't see the problem with it. When people ask me questions like that, its mostly homophobic people who think that being gay is "un-American". What I say is if people really think that way, and have bigotry attitudes, do they not think that black people, Asian people, or Hispanic people, should not be in the Armed Forces? I am not a very political person, but I don't understand what the big deal is with gay people, 100 years down the line, gay people are still going to be around, and are going to complain about the hardships that they went through during these time, because of the bigotry and harassment that they have to go through.

Why not...? Many do, and they do a great job. Of course, I think the war is completely asinine, but this is about the right to actually serve, so definitely! Their sexual orientation shouldn't be a factor for them to be discriminated against. They sure as hell have more balls than the average "straight" guy who complains about gays, yet is too afraid to go fight on the frontlines themselves.

Anybody who is physically able so taht they wont endanger others and who are willing to die for this country and its people VERY WELL SHOULD be in the US armed forces!!! people should not be denied based upon any sort of belief, gender or sexuality, they should only be denied for health reasons.

Our current policy is the best. You can join if your gay, but don't tell any one. They do this b/c the majority of those who are gay are liberal. And a liberal military in a non functioning military.
I don't want to go political but its true, there policies on war and soldiers are just to weak for a military to properly function.
The idea is if you dont flaunt your gay, you are Conservative and there for you can effectively work in the military.

Why can't they have gay people in the army? Personally, I think they are just afraid of a thousand guys with M16s going, "Who'd you call a ******?" ~John Stewart
