I have bought a new couch and want to get rid of my old blue leather couch. It only has a few minor rips in it but the thrift stores won't take it. I don't mind giving it away free, but that would mean strangers coming into my house which I"m not comfortable with. I live in San Diego. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of it? Have you heard of some trash pickup service that will pick it up for a fee?

Call Laidlaw or whoever your trash guys are and tell them you need a large item pickup. Then just leave it out on your trash day. Another idea is to set it out on your curb with a sign that says $20. It will usually vanish very quickly.

My town has a special truck to come and pick up all trash that doesn't fit into the special cans. They have one for brush, junk, metal and so on. I hardly ever have anything that makes it into the truck though, as most of the time, someone comes and picks it up. The only thing so far that hasn't got picked up before the trucks, is brush. I'd set it out a day or two before pickup and see if someone doesn't come and get it for you! Surely there is someone looking for a leather couch with a few rips in it for their jamming garage or porch. Good luck!

Most cities have scavenger trucks that pick up every few weeks. Call your local trash company and ask them info about it. Or you could set it outside on the curb, someone may drive by and see it and will take it. Good Luck!

I put mine out for the garbage truck and they hauled it right off. Sometimes people will stop and pick them up off the street before the trash truck comes.

Put it in front of your house a couple days before garbage pick up, someone will take it.

I had a friend that placed a couch out on their lawn with a sign "FREE" no response. So they placed a sign "$50.00" and someone stole it. Go figure!!!!!!!
