and give me some pointers on how to make it better?
http://www.libertydogtraining.com

It seems that people spend an average of 30 seconds looking at my site before getting off of it! I want people to stay longer, and make it more appealing.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!!!

you should view your pages in several browsers to make certain they llok good in all of them before making your site avail able to the general public.

your site is very generic and in internet explorer 6.0 on windows xp your text is covering up the image of the dog.

i see you used microsoft word to write your pages with. word make an awful mess out of web pages. you should delete what you have done so far and start over using this

★★ COFFEECUP HTML EDITOR ★★

◙ Most of the professional web designers that don't know HTML and Style Sheets or don't want to take the time to type it all in by hand in notepad use Macromedia (now owned by Adobe) Dreamweaver. But Dreamweaver is difficult for beginners to catch on to.

◙ Here is the wysiwyg html editor a beginner should use the first few times they make a site. It is much easier than Dreamweaver. Search the web for Coffeecup tutorials for help with it.

◙ In this editor you can write html and style sheets by hand, select the HTML tags from menus or you can use the wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor where you just drag things around the screen and the editor writes all the coding for you. Then all you need to then is click on FILE/SAVE AS to save it to your hard drive and upload it to your hosted web site.

◙ Here is a great forum to get help with various types of HTML editors

Your site looks really good. It's clean, easy to understand, and informational. These are the basic things you need for a successful webpage. But to make it 'POP', you just need a little artistic touch. But you’re definitely on the right track!!!

You're very observant to notice how fast people surf through pages. But an average of 30 seconds is pretty good compared with the usual 10 seconds. Be happy.

To start, look at other professionally done sites and see what you like about them. What makes YOU stay more than 30 seconds? What colors do you like for a website? What about interactive features like animating buttons? That's just some stuff to think about.

I see you've already have an idea for the color scheme (red, white, and blue work well with the 'Liberty' theme). But a plain white background looks cold, unprofessional, and bare. Have you tried a light beige color the b/g? Cream and black usually work well together, and it warms the area up. But that's just my opinion; try other colors that you think might work well.

The only other thing I would suggest to change would be the banner. It definitely gets the job done and I like the silhouette of the dog against the flag idea (very patriotic!). But the text part of the banner looks a little flat and too simple. Try to punch it up with some variation in text fonts and sizes. The title text doesn't HAVE to be all the same. Same goes with the content text. The all uppercase, bold text is a little over used.

Oh....and how about some more pictures? I love looking at dog pictures. How about some photos of a training session. That way, people can get a feel for what the classes are like.

I hope this helps!

Frankly the site is not attractive or professional enough. The marquee at the top is very annoying and you should really get rid of it. Also add some more colours/ change layout and make it look a little more professional.

To get some ideas i suggest you go to www.monstertemplate.com or www.boxedart.com you can just look for ideas here or maybe even buy a readymade site you like, its pretty cheap considering this a business site, definately go for a more professional look

I would highly suggest that you get a website professionally made, for a limited time the last design (thelastdesign.com) is offering up to 75-90% off all sites. contact @ mohammadarfeen@hotmail.com

By using a professional design your design will be more effective and higher on search engine rankings.
