I broke my little toe once. I could tell it was broken because there was VERY strong sharp pain whenever I touched it or tried to walk. I went to the E.R., and they gave me a "walking cast" which is basically a boot that I could take on and off. It has a rounded sole so that you can walk comfortably without putting any pressure on the broken bone. I did not need crutches, thank GOODNESS, but I had to wear the boot for a month. It only cost me about $75 without insurance (that's not counting x-rays though... I got those for free through my college health center.) You should go to the hospital. Good luck!

Get some tape, like what athletes use, and tape your broken toe to the one next to it. Unless there's an obvious deformity, there's not much going to the hospital will help with. If the bleeding under your nail is really painful, then you should get it drained. You'll get a nice hole drilled into your nail!! But you wouldn't have to necessarily go to the ER for that, your doctor could do it in the office.
Definitely keep icing it until this time tomorrow. If it bruises up past your ankle bone then you can rest assured that you busted your pinkie toe.

Don't bother with the ER unless the pain is trulyunbearable, because the actual treatment is just tape. Tape the little toe to the toe next to it and try to stay off it. For the pain, try elevating the foot (a pillow under the foot may help) and take some OTC pain reliever ... I prefer aspirin, but any one will work. Sorry. I know it hurts from personal experience. I also know that it only hurts for a week or so (and not as badly as right now). Good luck.

Nothing. Too small to do anything other than maybe tape it next to the other toe to keep it straight. It probably swelled up like crazy so taping it to the other toe can be troublesome.
Good luck.

nothing for a broken toe, but if the blood is building up under the toe nail heat a paper clip and burn through the nail to drain the blood and remove the pressure, but do not burn to deep. you should not feel the paper clip, if you do you went to deep.

You should tape it to the toe next to it to keep it from moving around. My son has broken several and when I took him to the E.R. they just did the same thing, only charged me for it. Get well soon!

There is nothing that can be done for a broken toe. It just has to heal on its own.

I had this happen to me before, Dr. told me to just tape it to next strongest toe for a while. Not scotch tape, med. tape. it stretches. Don't put together to tight. Change tape daily/day to day.
My toe heeled.

Please do not put a splint on your broken toe. No doctor would do that. It will heal on its own. If you need something for pain then go to the doc otherthan that there is nothing you need to do.
