FIAT guy is correct, the problem with overfill is usually oil foaming resulting in loss of lubrication to critical areas - foam does not lubricate or pump very well. Oil pressure is set by the oil pump not the amount of oil. The pressure varies far more due to engine temperature than crankcase level. Overfill foaming is caused by crankcase windage splashing far more oil on the spinning crankshaft. As previously stated, the amount of problem is directly related to the amount of overfill.

My father-in-law's car was double filled at an oil change shop one time - nine quarts. It would not start. One can only visualize the crankshaft sitting with the oil level reminiscent of a flooded basement.

If you add to much oil it will cause aeration and lead to burning up the internal bearings, It wont get on the spark plugs and it might pump some of it out of the oil check tube but not likely. Internal damage is the problem with to much oil.1/2 quart wound do anything but 1 1/2 quart will. Its best to drain and refill with the proper amount of oil.

Yes, overflowing the crankcase is not good. Most overfilling won't do substantial damage cause it's usually minimal amounts, but if your talking about 1+ quarts more you risk foaming the oil. and when that happens your oil pump can no longer pump all the oil to lubricate the engine... Then you get a spinning crankshaft and no lubricant.. thus will destroy your engine in the long run.. hope that helps

yes very bad your car will start to burn the extra oil (a light colored cloud of smoke ) and you car will create a cloud of smoke from your car tail pipe (lots of it ) and in some cars it will cause the engine to knock and or plug up the pcv valve. but if you do ever accidentally put in to much oil just drain some of the oil out and fill it back according to the manufacture recommended oil level.

hops this help.

No , it the oil will splash on the crank and oil better , like a lawnmower motor. You would have to put in 5 - 6 qts too much before you need to worry about it.

yes it will
depending on how much you overfilled it, the crank will be sitting in the oil, and with it slopping around in it create a foam.
now the oil pump cannot pump foam, so in turn your motor gets starved of oil and dies. so that also blows (no pun intended) the idea that it will blow out every seal in the motor.

YES!!!! The oil can can coat the plugs and prevent the spark which ignites the gas. The car will then buck and run roughly.

yes, toomuch oil causes too much oil pressure and can possibly blow your seals causing your car or truck to leak oil ussally from the rear main seal or the front main seal

i own a repair shop, and you can blow every seal in the engine out of it by doing this its really hard on any engine to over fill it ,its actually better to run one low rather than over full,, the best thing you can do is drain some of it back out of it,,this will help it not do any damage to the engine but d get it out of there its cheaper than having a lot of major leaks repaired,,good luck,i hope this help,s

YES over filling your oil sump will make too much pressure in your cylinders and blow your head gaskets.
