If it was made by a reliable source.

A basic, yet generally good rule is to look for ".edu" somewhere in the URL. That means that the site was made by some type of college or university.

He's asking if the site was concerned with academic learning and/or research. Are you talking about the Yahoo Answers site in particular? This is NOT scholarly.

A scholarly piece of work is one in which the educational community finds reputable for siting in other works. In other words, they are journals, articles, papers, etc. that are written for a specialized audience by experts in a subject area.

Trust me, this site is NOT scholarly. They're asking if it's a site sponsored by a college or museum or some place credible.
