I think generally men don't enjoy getting 'suprise' presents, they'd rather 'do' or 'go', so think along those lines, depending how much you want to spend of course! All the men I know and have to buy gifts for would prefer disposable, ie. edible gifts, so find out what they like and get some! There's so much choice just at the supermarkets now, with beer in gift packs with free t-shirts, whisky with nip bottles etc. Good luck!

I'm your target audience really. I haven't wanted anything for over 5 years (plus I'm your Daddy - hello sweetie, I'm on wi-fi downstairs). It's harder to buy for men. I'm going to try and _make_ myself want something this year.
You can either buy useful things (aftershave, clothes, etc) or interesting things. If you opt for "useful", try and get something which he can't do without. I never think, if only I had some aftershave in the house just now. On the other hand, I do sometimes think, damn, where's a brand new, long-life torch when you need one?!
"Interesting" is more risky but far more fun! If you have an uncle who likes golf, why not go to an antiques shop and find some golf paraphernalia? This needn't cost more than a new tie. If a relative likes whisky, buy him an interesting mini-selection. Problems arise when you don't actually know that much about your relatives. You know he's a teacher, but did you know he collects Rolling Stones posters?

About 4 years ago I bought my husband a cool watch for Christmas. It was a 1972 vintage watch. (he was born in 1972 - so that was sort of the motive behind it). This has turned into a tradition, that I buy him a new watch every year. It may seem silly when you first read it but it's like the need women have for multiple purses, earrings, etc. He really likes them and each year that passes he looks forward to a new one. He has quite a collection now! This year I've seen a cool watch box that I will buy him to put them in. This fad is catching on...some are less expensive (50.00 and some have been 350.00). Hope that helps!
Happy shopping!

My dad is exactly like that.... This is the gift I got him....
The jar of nothing....For this project all you need is an empty jar.
You can print this saying out onto some adhesive label paper suitable for your printer or print it onto normal plain paper. Use some clear craft glue to adhere it to the jar.
If you want to go all out you can add some ribbon to the jar
and even box it up for a great gag gift.
--The Saying---
Did you say nothing?
When you were asked what you wanted for
Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation or Christmas.
Don't you remember saying NOTHING
Well this time someone heard you, searched
high and low and found this perfect gift for you. lol and I also went to a thrift store and I found something that I just thought he would really like.... Hope this helps you buy for those special men on your christmas list!!

The men in my family get given books, CD's, DVD's, computer games, joke presents, e.g. a magician's spell kit, wind-up toy cars etc, aftershave, shoes/ walking boots/ trainers, clothes (t-shirts, like England football shirts). Sometimes we club together and get a big present - for my brother's 21st we got a him a day out at a race-track where he got to drive a racing car. This year he's getting a pass to Alton Towers.
Also buy things I know they like. My dad likes chocolate covered ginger so it's a tradition to always get him some. He's got a season ticket for Kew this Xmas because he likes Kew a lot and we get him plants or other garden things because that's his hobby. So, it's not so difficult. It's a family rule never to buy toiletries, socks, pants, ties or handkerchiefs!
I hope that helps.

This may sound a wacky idea-and may not work-but I did this and got an excellent result! While trying to figure out what to buy my boyfriend for his birthday one year,I typed his name into Google, and found that there was a vintage comic book (1927) that had a story where my boyfriend's full name was in the title!! (And,of course, was the main character of the story.) He loved it!!
Give it a go-you never know what you might come up with!

My boyfriend always enjoys getting CDs that he wants, also DVDs that he wants. In my experience, he's not bothered about presents being big or flashy, just likes to know that there's some thought gone into them.
So, a bottle of Baileys always goes down well as it's a Christmas drink and he's Irish! He also likes getting presents that spoil him (such as a meal out on me)...

no no no!!!!
Not a tie (i've rakes) not socks (i could sell bloody socks) not hankies (could sell hankies to old folk!) not scarfs either (I only have 1 neck! but I must have about 6 scarfs :-/ :) not slippers, women always get the wrong size and colours :|
If you wanna get something, make it something that the man will be sure to use, not (like me) end up in a drawer and never used.

I do actually like getting socks for Christmas as it means I don't have to but them later on in the year.
Try www.firebox.com loads of men orientated gadgetry or visit your local Gadget Shop for more useless toys for your boys :-)

my husband wanted a belt and a watch last year. This year I am honestly buying him and my dad underwear. My dads is actually for my moms enjoyment. At walmart they have these silky, ribbed boxer briefs that are awesome. I might even buy some for my mom and myself.
