...corruption and politics has found its' way into sports

...drugs [introducing foreign substances into the body and blood doping ]

...racism and other forms of discrimination [although 'they' claim it does not exist in sports...YEAH RIGHT]

...athletes selling out and going to other careers for the love of fame and money [example: anna kournikova]

You have had some good points raised in your answers. Thanks for the question. I actually talked this subject over with some friends after a match we attended in Sydney and we discussed the issue of tactics. Simulation for one example. People have a broad attitude now days that it's simply part of the game, that it is an acceptable tactic. But when it brings the quality of the game down or the game into disrepute, does it become a problem. Does it allow you to win because you are the best or just boost your chances because you through tactics can possibly manipulate the result. Does it keep the boundaries of fair sportsmanship in perspective or produce in us a win at any cost attitude. Tactics are obviously employed by all players, teams and coaches and some are a vital and necessary part of the game. However in relation to the negative tactics do they make the game better or worse, do they make the game from a spectator point of view a positive experience. A little off topic from your question I guess, but just a thought that we discussed in regards to how big a problem it is becoming in the sport of football generally..

Well facing athletes, all the drug and alcohol parties, those athletes don't perform well for very long, ex.: James Hunt in Formula One.

Like morbidsweetness mentioned, the selling out of one's image,ex.: Danica Patrick in Indy Cars, I admired her but then when she started getting undressed in pictures and looking less than credible, she lost my vote.

Performance enhancing drugs like Floyd Landis' little trick in Le Tour de France, now that's a Loser with a capital L.

Too much money buying the best athletes of the world, ex.: Chelsea has been talking with Malouda, I don't want Malouda to leave Lyon, France, he is the best in Ligue 1.
