Generally beads are beads, but if for example you mean those carried by Buddhist's then often there are 108 beads for the number of worldly desires, or 8 beads for the eightfold path, or 6 for the six perfections etc.

Well in the school I go to there is a gang and depending on the color of beads that they are wearing and where they are positioned it displays what gang they are fighting and where they are fighting them!!
