One way to check the amount of fat in a product and compare it to another is to check a nutrient data base.

If you go to www.mypyramid.com, you will find lots of nutrition information available. Choose MyPyramid Tracker in the box on the left. Choose Assess Your Intake. Then develop a free account. Then you can get nutrition information on one food at a time, or on a whole meal, or day's worth.

I checked potato chips and corn chips. Neither were in a comparable quantity. So I identified the fat and calorie content of each and then compared. With 75 calories of potato chips, there is 4.8 gm fat. With 100 calories of corn chips, there is 6 gm fat.
There are several ways to calculate. But since 75 is 3/4 of 100, then 3/4 of 6 is 4.5.

75 calories of potato chips have 4.8 gms fat.
75 calories of corn chips have 4.5 gms fat.
Therefore potato chips have more fat than corn chips.

... don't you survey...? Lay's Original are the greasiest for me. *shrugs* You shouldn't have picked a topic that you needed scientific evidence for if you couldn't already find sources. Just keep looking... try Yahoo.

this is going to sound gross, but for a science project, pick a few different types of chips. then, for each one, take the same amount of each by weight, and crush them. put them in a pan of boiling water for 5 minutes each. then, strain them into identical cups or clear tubes. measure the amount of grease on the top of the water. that will tell you.

good luck!!!!

Buy a sampling of it and look at the fat content and use that as the source of your conclusion.
