Homework huh? Well what do you think? You did read the book right? I will start by saying yes he is a realistic character. He went through many experiences that most teens can relate to. Now think back to parts in the book that you said to yourself..."I know what that's like" or "That happened to me" and finish answering the question.

When i first read it, i thought he was more a symbol than a real person but after 20 years of experience and learning about people and experiencing the changes that has happened., it's possible to say that Holden could be a real life person with all his problems and hang ups. He is quite realistic in the 21st century.

Oddly enough, I went to high school with a guy just like him--so I found him quite believable.
