I don't care about price. My 13 month old will scream until he throws up when I try to take his temperature. I need a reliable baby thermometer. We have one that is a binky and it doesn't work. We have one that goes in the ear, it doesn't work. We have one the hospital gave us, and it works but it takes forever. I would prefer not to use a rectal thermometer.

I have heard that the ear thermometers were only for older children and adults. I know from experience that they don't work on babies. They used to say that my kids' temps were 96 degrees sometimes.

Here's one from Wal-Mart that seems to work pretty well. It has some good reviews on it so I'm guessing it's what you're looking for. It doesn't go in their mouth or under their arm, it goes directly on the forehead. Hope this helps :-)

I recommend the temporal lobe thermometer, aka forehead thermometer. The ear thermometer is not accurate for babies and toddlers, they're designed for older kids and adults, seriously. There are also sticker thermometers. Another option I've seen, never tried because of price, is one that hooks onto the front of your child's pj's and has a remote that gives you a constant reading. This would allow you to be in the next room while your child was sleeping and tell whether they needed woken up for meds or left to sleep.

Get one that can be used under his arm. Hold him in a hug (holding his arm down) while the thermometer is working. Most take about a minute to work.

I believe it's like 104. That seems really high to me. But I never let it get that high. If my daughter had a fever of 101 for longer than a couple doses of Tylenol I would take her to the ped. 101.2 isn't a terrible fever but if he still has it in the morning I would take him to the dr.

The one you point on the ear and click. It takes a second to do it. It's 10 years old and it still works.

the ear themometer is supposed to be the best, i use the under arm one, the ones that take temp off the forehead are no good, they take skin temp not body temp & there is a big difference.

I wanna say the one that you stick in the child's ear like the doctor's office has.
