It is so not like me to cheat, but i did. It was something as stupid as a textbook page in Math for homework, but i didn't have time to do it the night before. So i started doing it in science class, but i am not the cheating type so i did a bad job of hiding it. My teacher found it and took it and said she would show it to my math teacher. So, when i went to math, i did the responsible thing and told my teacher what i did. Well, i tried at least. My friend ended up telling her becasue i NEVER get in trouble and i was scared about geting points and referals and a call to my parents. I love math and my math teacher is the best. She has something to say about everything and i am always saying i am her favorite student and always hang out in her classroom between class periods. Except, i lost that "favorite student" record, and i REALLY want it back. What should i do? I am the suck up type so i was thinking about writing a quick paper about the wrongs of cheating.

I personally hate facing people i disappoint so i write a letter first apologizing and explaining my actions, also since it is a teacher include what steps you will take to make sure that you don't make the same mistake again. give it to her in a nice essay form and she will obviously see the extra effort you put in and probably forgive you.

Cheating bothers me to no end. Everyone cheats on homework and tests and well everything else. What bothers me the most is this: they cheat, but I still do better then them not cheating. I don't let people copy my homework anymore. I didn't do it a lot to start with. I let my friend copy my spanish homework and he got caught. So I spend two hours on homework just to get a 0.

Owning up and being responsible for your own actions is one of the best things that you can do. You might also ask to meet with this teacher. During this time, you can appologize one on one. Chances are, you will not receive credit for the assignment. However, you might be able to ask for an alternate one so that you do not miss out on the skill. Offer to do it for no credit. Make sure that you acknowledge the fact that you cannot undo what you did, but would really like to gain her trust back.

Ahhhh......them were the days. I'm afraid you lost your reputation. Just keep hanging out in her class and she will eventually let it go. At least you told her.
Once when I was in college a girl that set next to me copied a paper of mine. I DIDN'T know (she just asked if she could read it) and the moron copied it word for word. THEN she handed it in! It was so awful and that can actually get you kicked out of college! The professor (who also happened to be my adviser) was a total JERK and refused to give me a reference when I transferred to another college.
I know it feels awful, but learn from it and move on. Don't keep reliving it over and over. Eventually it won't matter. Like the other poster, I can't decide if you actually cheated or just got caught doing it in the wrong class......if you weren't copying someone elses work - then that isn't cheating.
If you are that upset about not cheating, then you are a very good girl that has nothing to worry about. :)

If I were you I would do the assignment and turn it in to her. Tell her you know you will not get any credit for it and agree that you shouldn't. Apologize for cheating and let her know that you know the only person being hurt by cheating is you. But that you wanted to do the assignment anyway so that you can learn the material.

You should just try extra hard in her class, and show her that you didn't need to cheat...You can write the paper too and make sure YOU talk to her about it, and explain why you did it. Good luck
Oh I didn't read the whole thing! That isn't cheating!! You did it on your own!!! Don't worry about it

Wait a sec... I guess I don't understand. Were you cheating (getting someone else to do your homework or copying off of someone), or were you simply making use of extra time in another class? To me, it's not cheating if you do your own work. Perhaps you could make that argument if that's the case.

You didn't cheat at all... You respectfully did your own work in a time that was suitable for you to do it. You didn't have time to do it the night before so instead of quitting and giving up you strived for excellence by trying to finish it when possible to do so, so I see nothing wrong. Your intentions were good and when it comes down to it, its not cheating so I believe that you should feel ashamed of your actions nor allow others to bring you down for them since you were just sub-consciously striving for excellence all along. :-)

You made a mistake. Apologize to BOTH teachers and never do it again. Honesty and being sincere is the best course of action.
Your teacher will appreciate you coming to them and apologizing for the "small" mistake you made.
